The 62-year-old has worked in several genres and received several accolades, from Cannes Film Festival Award to European Film Award. Of course, he has also earned awards from the Academy, Tony, Primetime Emmy, and Golden Globe.
This success began when he started working with director Pedro Almodóvar on a number of films in the 1980s. From there, he entered the world of Hollywood and did Philadelphia, Interview with the Vampire, Desperado, Assassins, Evita, and The Mask of Zorro.
He was also part of the first three films of the Spy Kids movie series and voiced Puss in Boots in the Shrek franchise, its spinoff Puss in Boots, and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

Banderas also joined the theater world in the U.S. and debuted in Nine, instantly winning a Drama Desk Award. He also did the TV movie And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself and was cast in Genius Season 2, earning critical praise for his role as Pablo Picasso in the latter.
In 2019, he did Pain and Glory and earned the Cannes Film Festival Award, European Film Award, and Goya Award for Best Actor. He also received several nominations.

They only had chance meetings at film festivals. The most important event he couldn’t forget was when Chris Martin’s partner presented him with the Hollywood Actor Award for his role in Pain and Glory at the Hollywood Film Awards in 2019.
