Illustrated and written by Koyoharu Gotouge, Demon Slayer is a manga series that follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado becoming a demon slayer after his family was slaughtered by Muzan.

To make things worse, his sister, Nezuko, was turned into a demon. The manga and anime won several awards. By 2020, the whole franchise was able to generate an annual sales value of $8.75 billion.

Anime fans who were amazed at the fantasy world created in Demon Slayer will get the same vibes when they check out Soul Eater. The latter series focuses on a world where monster hunters exist. They were trained at a special academy wherein they were given an anthropomorphic weapon that can transform. The anime centers on Maka who was partnered with Soul Evans.

3. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

Action series with adventure? Then Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is the perfect anime. The series is about the Joestar family, particularly Jonathan Joestar. He goes on a quest to fight evil where he meets interesting characters along the way. The series has a mixture of drama, humor, and action which were also evident in Demon Slayer.

Samurai Champloo is considered a classic anime that tells the story of Fuu and her bodyguards. The anime focuses on samurai with a hint of modern hip-hop, making it a one-of-a-kind series. The trio was on an adventure to look for a samurai that can smell sunflowers, more like what Tanjiro and his team are planning to do, which is to find Muzan. There is an abundance of humor and action too.

5. My Hero Academia

If Tanjiro was loved because of his perseverance, the same can be said about Midoriya. He was born without a quirk but that does not stop him from wanting to be a pro-hero. His life changed when All Might gave him a powerful quirk called One For All. He also enrolled at UA High School wherein he trained to become the number one hero.

6. Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer were popular in the shonen action anime category because of the series’ animation and overall plotline. Some even consider the two as rivals as both have spectacular fight scenes and lovable characters. The two are also similar in concept as the protagonists are against supernatural threats.

7. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

The series is also jampacked with action and adventure but what makes it stand out from other shows is that it covers philosophy and science. The series tackled mythology and alchemy, resulting in a rich plotline. With its interesting concept, fans cannot help but anticipate what happens next. Will the Elric brothers ever restore their original bodies?

8. Ruroni Kenshin

Another samurai-themed series on the list is Ruroni Kenshin. The journey starts with Kenshin reflecting on his life after he killed thousands of people. While he tries to move on from his past, it seems like his mission was not officially over. The series has tons of cool sword scenes that are familiar to Demon Slayer fans.

The series took place in Europe. Despite the difference in settings, D.Gray-Man and Demon Slayer both have the fantasy action theme that fans will certainly love. He also joins a monster hunter organization to succeed in his mission.

The anime starts off with Hyakkimaru losing his body parts after these were handed to a demon. Despite his condition, he was able to survive and started his journey to bring back what he lost. From that premise alone, fans can get the Demon Slayer vibes from the series. The action anime has will intrigue fans who wanted to know if Hyakkimaru was able to regain what he lost.

11. Avatar: The Last Airbender

Like Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, Aang was just a young boy granted amazing supernatural abilities. He was set off in a quest to defeat the villains and put an end to a century-long war, which was actually part of Tanjiro and his team’s mission. Both series are popular for their amazing visuals and well-thorough storytelling.

12. Bleach

Ichigo possessed the powers of a Shinigami, who is considered as a reaper who helps guide the dead. They also fight monsters that act as samurai monster hunters. Although Ichigo and Tanjiro do not have the same mission, their drive to protect people is the same. The two characters are loved by many fans around the globe for their personalities and amazing skills.

13. Attack on Titan

The worldbuilding of Attack on Titan might be different from Demon Slayer but if other elements such as action sequences, sword scenes, and storytelling are considered, they are quite similar. Like Demon Slayer, anime fans around the world love Attack on Titan. The series was able to capture the hearts of anime lovers and new watchers, alike. Eren and Tanjiro have one goal in mind: to protect the people they love. They will do everything for these people, no matter what the consequences are.

14. Blue Exorcist

The show centers on a secret academy that trains its students to exercise demons. Sounds a bit familiar, right? Blue Exorcist is about Rin who was the son of a devil. He wants to slay demons despite his situation. Although Rin and Nezuko are not completely alike, the similarities are seen somehow.

15. Black Clover

Another anime that was known for its shonen fantasy genre is Black Clover. Asta was determined that he can be the Wizard King even if he was not born with magic. He eventually obtained a five-leaf clover which further gave him hope that he can achieve his dream.
