Angelina Jolie has been blessed with six children, three of which are her biological kids. The actress adopted her three eldest kids from different parts of the world and with the help of her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, they previously became a family of eight.
But what some fans might not know is that before Angelina Jolie adopted Maddox, Pax, and Zahara and before she gave birth to Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox, the Eternals star first served as a stepmom to Billy Bob Thornton’s three children.
Jolie and Thornton were married from 2000 and 2003, which automatically made her a stepmom to his children. And just recently, Thornton’s son, Harry James Thorton shared what it was like to be under Jolie’s wing.
Harry James Thornton Has Wonderful Memories With Angelina Jolie
While speaking with E! News, Harry James said that Jolie was very cool.
“She was so fun and, yeah, she was one of the best stepmoms I've had,” he said.
During another interview with Entertainment Tonight, Harry James revealed that he and Jolie are still close today. Even though they don’t talk on the phone regularly, Jolie has never forgotten to send him Christmas cards and presents.
“To this day, she still sends me Christmas gifts every year and stuff like that. I don’t talk to her on the phone every day but every now and then we talk,” he said.
Before Jolie and Thornton called it quits, the Maleficent: Mistress of Evil spent so much time with Harry James and his siblings. In fact, one of their favorite weekend activities was to go camping.
“She took us camping every week and she rented, like, an RV one time, and we went on a full camping trip. She was just so fun for us back when we were like, younger. Like, she was a lot of fun,” he gushed.

During her interview with the New York Times, Jolie said that some people assume the worse about her relationship with Thornton. But no one really knows what happened between them except for the two.
“People think they know a lot about our relationship. They know very little. What little they know, they’ve got pretty strong opinions about. Can’t help that. But I don’t think there’s anything weird about us. I’m just a very normal woman who is crazy about her man. And I’m also a lot of other things,” she said.
When Jolie adopted Maddox in 2002, she was still married to Thornton. However, it didn’t take very long before the A-listers split. At the time, there were also rumors claiming that Thornton cheated on Jolie.
Years later, the Salt star said that she thought there was some truth to the cheating allegations. But what really caused her divorce from Thornton was the fact that he wasn’t ready to expand their family.
But even if this was the case, Jolie had nothing but wonderful things to say about her ex-husband when she spoke with Vanity Fair.
“He’s a really good man. He’s hysterical—we had a lot of laughs. What went wrong, or not even wrong, but what wasn’t meant to be as he was focusing on his music and I was upstairs reading. I went through a change in my life and started paying more attention to the news and learning about other countries and becoming more politically active,” Jolie gushed.

Last year, Jolie and Thornton also made headlines after they were photographed hanging out with each other.
At the time, multiple publications thought that the exes were getting back together. However, no reunion between the two ever took place.
