Angelina Jolie made new abuse allegations against her ex Brad Pitt in her latest court filing. However, the exes' legal battle reminded the public of Amber Heard, and Johnny Depp's defamation trial and Jolie is reportedly compared to Heard and Pitt to Depp.
Angelina Jolie Reportedly Receiving Similar Treatment As Amber Heard
The Maleficent star filed new court documents Tuesday alleging that the Bullet Train actor choked one of their kids and struck another on the face during their altercation while aboard a private jet in 2016. Her filing was her response after Pitt sued her for allegedly selling her stakes without his consent and trying to intentionally inflict harm on him.
The legal battle between the former A-list couple reminded many of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's defamation trial. And Angelina Jolie is already getting the same treatment as Heard, Jezebel reported.
The outlet noted that the people painted Depp as Heard's victim, and several outlets and netizens slammed Jolie for her allegations against Pitt.
"Jolie is on a smear campaign against Brad Pitt," TMZ said in a tweet.
Several commented on the post, and many said it was giving them serious deja vu to the height of Depp and Heard's six-week defamation trial in Virginia, which was televised and seen by millions of people worldwide.
Hundreds of Facebook users sympathized with Pitt based on their comments. They made Jolie the villain and called her a liar amid their legal battle.
"The fact that Jolie was the dominant player in their relationship and Brad the weaker party, he was a lovesick guy who she abused and she manipulated the children against their dad, I just pray Jen Aniston isn't forced to defend him after he ditched her and lied to her," one commented.
"My thing is, why do they need to keep rehashing what happened years ago. At one point do you say let me forgive and move on with my life. Stop living in the past and strive for peace," another added.
"Brad need to hired [sic] the attorney firm that represented dear Johnny Depp, that's it!!" a third wrote.
Some stood up and defended Jolie from those who criticized her.
"she is COUNTERSUING him because he's suing her….so why are u blaming the woman defending herself? make it make sense to me QUICKLY," one commented.
Another added, "This is dripping in misogyny. A woman seeking justice for abuse painted as a harpy. The abusive man, who happens to be good looking, rich and charming, painted as an innocent victim. Stop labeling a woman's anger, especially in response to injustices, as a negative thing."
The parallel between Jolie and Heard goes beyond public relations, Jezebel noted. Both Jolie and Heard are openly bisexual, and for years, there are much speculations about their mental health, which only intensifies the criticisms against them.

Angelina Jolie filed a cross-complaint after Brad Pitt sued her after selling her shares in their winery company, Miraval. The Once Upon A Time in Hollywood star alleged that they agreed that no one should sell their share without each other's consent.
Jolie denied Pitt's allegations saying it was "false," adding that "no such agreement ever existed," People reported.
She also claimed that she offered to sell her interests to Pitt. However, he allegedly "demanded" that she sign a non-disclosure agreement, stopping her from "speaking outside of court about Pitt's physical and emotional abuse of her and their children."
"Jolie refused to agree to such a provision, and Pitt walked away from the deal," her lawyers said in the filing.
Jolie also claimed in her new filing that Pitt sought to control over her finances, and she had to defend herself.
"But when Pitt filed this lawsuit seeking to reassert control over Jolie's financial life and compel her to rejoin her ex-husband as a frozen-out business partner, Pitt forced Jolie to publicly defend herself on these issues for the first time," the court paper continued.
Pitt's lawyer responded to Jolie's allegations.
"Brad has owned everything he's responsible for from day one — unlike the other side," his attorney, Anne Kiley, told Page Six. "He's not going to own anything he didn't do. He has been on the receiving end of every type of personal attack and misrepresentation."
She continued, "Thankfully, the various public authorities the other side has tried to use against him over the past six years have made their own independent decisions. Brad will continue to respond in court as he has consistently done."
