I think a lot of us can agree that Supreme Leader Snoke was the perfect antagonist for the Star Wars sequel trilogy but the character was reduced to being Emperor Palpatine's mere puppet. What could have been a promising villain ended up becoming a poor excuse to bring Darth Sidious back to the fold even though nobody asked for his involvement.

The decision to kill Snoke in 2017's The Last Jedi left many scratching their heads and it turns out that even Andy Serkis himself, the actor who breathed life into the shortlived character wasn't that thrilled with the fate his character suffered at the hands of Rey and Kylo Ren.

Speaking with GQ, Serkis recalled his reaction to finding out that Snoke was getting killed off in Episode VIII and admittedly, Rian Johnson's creative call which clearly didn't sit well with fans also left him quite devastated. According to him, his excitement was instantaneously crushed when he learned that Snoke will be sliced in half.

Serkis said: "Let me just phrase it like this. When I went in to read The Last Jedi, [I spent] the first 30 pages thinking, 'This is the most incredible character.' Then I turned the page: 'And then Snoke gets sliced in half.' And I was gutted. Gutted."

There has been persistent speculation that Snoke will eventually make his way back to the Star Wars Universe and The Mandalorian's second season seems to have teased the Supreme Leader's backstory. Even Andor has many fans theorizing that Serkis' character Kino Loy has connections to the clone but that remains to be seen.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is available to stream on Disney+.
