Andrew Garfield Shoots Down Simu Liu on Live TV After Accusing Him as a Member of the Illuminati

Both fan-beloved Marvel actors Simu Liu and Andrew Garfield were present at 2022's TIME 100 Gala on June 8, 2022. The ceremony was held at New York City’s Jazz at Lincoln Center and Shang-Chi and The Legend of Ten Rings star Simu Liu hosted the event.

Simu Liu did not disappoint in hosting the prestigious event. In one of Liu's hilarious spills, the actor expressed curiosity about whether the Illuminati really exists, and if so, why he wasn't even invited. Liu then pointed a finger at Spider-Man: No Way Home star Andrew Garfield, and jokingly accuses Garfield as a discreet member of the secret society.

Garfield seemingly denies the accusation, and uttered: "Shut the f-ck up!"

That's a really fun exchange between Garfield and Liu, and it's absolutely a delight to see the two Marvel actors hilariously interact with each other for the first time.

More recently, Simu Liu offered a very promising comment about Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Andrew Garfield made a monumental return as the fan-favorite web-slinger. "In my humble opinion, great movie, loved it," Liu spoke in AwesomeCon. "I grew up watching [Spider-Man movies], I've seen all of them. But in my opinion, [they] deployed a cheat code and brought back nostalgia all the way [from 20 years ago]."

Both Andrew Garfield and Simu Liu won a spot in TIME's 100 Most Influential Artists category. Besides the two, No Way Home's Zendaya and Guardians of the Galaxy showrunner Taika Waititi both earned a spot on TIME's Innovators list.

Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man: No Way Home and Simu Liu's Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings are available to stream on Disney+.
