A lot of Star Wars fans have been anticipating the release of the second season of Andor, which remains the franchise's most acclaimed series to date as it has received a lot of accolades since its release.

However, there have been concerns regarding its planned release next year since Disney+ announced in its press release yesterday that Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte are the only live-action Star Wars shows that will premiere on the streamer next year.

Some fans have been wondering whether it was the official confirmation that the Rogue One prequel show's sophomore run won't be able to make it on its planned release next year.

Gizmodo reported that they learned from their sources close to production that the second season of Andor will likely be delayed to 2025.

The recent Hollywood strikes were cited as the reason why the upcoming season won't be able to make it on its planned fall 2024 release. Its production was shut down when the actors' strike commenced last July.

In addition, they also reported that animated shows such as the upcoming season of The Bad Batch will likely premiere next year as well despite its absence in the Disney+ press release.

Lucasfilm and Disney+ have not officially confirmed the second season's delay although it seems to be inevitable now given what we learned about their plans for next year.

At this point, it's not really surprising that the second season will be delayed until 2025 as production has not finished yet and is only set to resume soon. Showrunner Tony Gilroy might want to dedicate a lot of time to finish it and make sure that they'll be able to stick to the landing.

The only downside is that the wait will be much longer than before since it will be a three-year gap by the time that it premieres and all fans can hope for is that the long wait will be worth it.

The first season of Andor is available to stream on Disney+.
