One of the main industries that the pandemic hit hard is that of entertainment which closed out a lot of cinemas during its peak when people are forced to stay indoors. In order to bounce back from that dark time, AMC Theaters unveils their Sightline Program where ticket prices will be seat-based.
A new pricing plan is about to change the experience of watching films on the big screen at AMC Theaters as they launch the Sightline Program which aims to find ways to encourage people to return to cinemas as well as maximize the revenue.
As reported by Variety, AMC Theaters' Sightline Program will be starting on Friday, February 10th, in New York City, Chicago, and Kansas City before rolling out to all AMC locations nationwide by the end of 2023.
In the same report, Eliot Hamlisch, executive VP and CMO at AMC Theatres, revealed the reason for their approach on the Sightline Program, “Sightline at AMC more closely aligns AMC’s seat pricing approach to that of many other entertainment venues, offering experienced-based pricing and another way for moviegoers to find value at the movies.”
Hamlisch added, “While every seat at AMC delivers an amazing moviegoing experience, we know there are some moviegoers who prioritize their specific seat and others who prioritize value moviegoing."
Hamlisch further explained, "Sightline at AMC accommodates both sentiments to help ensure that our guests have more control over their experience, so that every trip to an AMC is a great one.”
The Sightline Program of AMC Theaters will be having three different seat-pricing options depending on the view from the said seat. The first one is the Standard Sightline which is the most common seats in the auditoriums which would cost the traditional price of a ticket.
Then, there is the Value Sightline which is only available to AMC Stubs members and the free tier membership, available at a price lower than that of the first option. These seats are those in the front row as well as selected ADA seats.
The last option is the Preferred Sightline which are seated in the middle of the theaters which will be having a price of a premium to standard sightline seats. Those which are members of the AMC Stubs A-List could reserve the seats at this section for no additional cost.
AMC Theaters that would start offering the Sightline Program are expected to provide a detailed seat map which would distinguish which option they could avail of, physically and online through their AMC app.
The Sightline Program, however, is not applied to all showtimes as it will only be for those starting after 4 PM at participating branches. It will not be applicable as well during Discount Tuesdays where ticket prices get discounts to $5.
