Amber Heard and Johnny Depp's legal battle is finally over. Now, many are wondering how the trial has affected their respective careers.

Amber Heard Reportedly Has No Project, And Her Career Is Downsizing Even Before The Johnny Depp Trial

Depp sued his ex-wife, Heard, for defamation after accusing him of abuse in her Washington Post op-ed in 2018. The jury sided with him and agreed that the Aquaman defamed her ex-husband even if she did not mention his name in the article.

During the trial, Heard admitted that Warner Bros. wanted to drop her from the Aquaman sequel, and she fought them to keep her role. She was not cut from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. However, at present, she only has that film, and the Italian-produced In the Fire listed on IMDb — and both films have already wrapped, The New York Post reported.

“I felt that Amber’s career was already on a downswing [before the trial],” a knowledgeable film-industry player told the outlet. “I don’t think she’ll not work again. But she is not Jennifer Lawrence. And the trial did not help.”

An unnamed insider close to Heard told Mirror (via Marca) that her career "is over" after she lost the defamation trial against Depp in June. She couldn't reportedly pay the nearly $15 million she owed Depp.

So, Heard was allegedly planning to write a book to make money. She reportedly planned to use the profit to pay the money she owed Depp.

"She has already started conversations for the book and is obviously excited about the topic. At this point, Amber has nothing to lose and wants to tell all," the source claimed.

Heard already settled the case and agreed to pay Depp $1 million. The Pirates of the Caribbean star will donate the money to charities.

Johnny Depp's Career Is Reportedly Uncertain Following The Trial

The insider also weighed in on the star's acting career. Unlike Heard, Depp will still have a career, but he will not be as popular as before, the insider claimed.

“I think he will have a career but I don’t see him being redeemed,” the player said of the actor. “I think big-name people in Hollywood will steer clear of him.”

“There are different levels of shunning,” the insider added. “[Depp] is not at the Kevin Spacey level. My guess is that he is more in the Mel Gibson range. The international audience will be happy to see him in things and probably a lot of people in the United States as well."

The tipster believed that just like Gibson, dominant studios would not choose Depp to anchor a film. He also believed that he would have a career but probably not in Hollywood, citing his music tour in Europe.

“He’ll continue to do movies financed in the international market, financed with foreign production companies,” the player predicted. “The deals will come from people who are third or fourth tier. They show up with a lot of money and it all goes to the star. You saw that at the end of Bruce Willis’s career. You see that in terms of John Travolta.”

A source close to Depp confirmed that he has spent a lot of time away from Hollywood. He has been in Europe a lot following his major legal victory.

Despite the insider's claim, many were hopeful for Depp's comeback. Some are even hoping that he will return to the Pirates franchise.

Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer wants Depp back onboard as Captain Jack Sparrow. Bruckheimer said that Depp's character couldn't be killed in the franchise.

"We tried to kill him. It didn't work," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I would love to have him in the movie. He's a friend, a terrific actor and it's unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do."
