Amazon's The Boys Spinoff Series Officially a Go

The Boys has been a huge success for Amazon Prime Video. It has received positive responses from fans and critics. It even received several awards recognition including a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. Now, the series is expanding the world and introduce us to a new group of Supes.

It has been reported that Amazon has given an official greenlit to a college-set spinoff series of The Boys. Agent Carter showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters have come on board to showrun and executive produce the series. They are replacing Craig Rosenberg, who departed the project due to creative differences.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the spinoff series is set at America's only college exclusively for young-adult superheroes (which is run by Vought International). It is described as "an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive superheroes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. It's part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys."

Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Shane Paul McGhie, Aimee Carrero, Reina Hardesty, and Maddie Hardesty will star in the spinoff series, playing the young adult superheroes. More casting news will be announced soon. There is no information however if characters from the parent series will show up.

It is exciting to hear that The Boys will be able to explore another part of the world that they haven't explored yet. After all, Vought International is a global corporation that has a lot of subsidiaries and we know, based on the two seasons that aired so far, that there's more Supes in the world and the spinoff series would be an opportunity for them to explore the other characters that are also superpowered individuals. It would be interesting to see it from the perspective of young adult characters, who definitely has a more unique experience regarding it. Based on the logline, it seems like they will be pushing the boundaries just like the parent series.

The third season of The Boys has recently finished filming and it is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video sometime next year.
