Alicia Vikander's Tomb Raider Sequel Gets Tentative Title

It looks like the Tomb Raider sequel starring Alicia Vikander is still happening and it now has an unofficial title. Director Misha Green has just confirmed that the second film already has a tentative yet unapproved title.

Green, who is also writing the screenplay for Tomb Raider 2, took to Twitter to share an awesome update on the film. The Lovecraft Country showrunner proudly posted an image of the script, revealing its tentative title. Check it out below.

"Still a long journey to production. Title's not even approved. But first draft finished!!!" Green wrote before adding the hashtag #TombRaider.

It's an intriguing title and we're wondering what the "obsidian" will be all about. For now, details about the project are still unclear. Nevertheless, it has been confirmed that Vikander will reprise her role as Lara Croft in the sequel.

Fans have been concerned about Tomb Raider 2 for some time considering that the first movie was met with mixed reviews. In addition to that, the 2018 film didn't meet its goal of grossing $275 million in the worldwide box office (it did earn $274 million). Luckily, it looks like Warner Bros. is eager to move forward with the second flick.

Tomb Raider is based on the video game of the same name. Interestingly, fans were initially unsure about Vikander playing the famously well-endowed heroine. However, the Ex Machina star was able to prove herself in the movie.

Tomb Raider: Obsidian (title yet unapproved) has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
