Alice in Borderland Season 2 ended with Arisu’s victory against Mira, the Queen of Hearts. Though it looks like the natural end of the series, with all the games’ participants back in the real world, the final shot of the Joker seems to tease there will be another fight coming, and it may happen in Alice in Borderland Season 3.

Arisu and the gang have defeated all the face card bosses in Alice in Borderland Season 2. However, there’s one left: the Joker, who may be the next villain the group has to defeat in Alice in Borderland Season 3.

The Final Card

The 80-minute Season 2 finale saw Arisu defeating the Queen of Hearts in a croquet game.

From there, Mira revealed what really happened that brought everyone to the dangerous world of The Borderlands.

They were the victims of a freak meteorite attack, and the survivors of the dangerous games had the option to return to the real world.

Arisu woke up in the real world, feeling the guilt of knowing his friends didn’t survive. He then met Usagi again.

Though they didn’t know each other in real life, they seemed to have recognized each other.

As they walked to the hospital grounds together and everyone was having fun in the courtyard, an abandoned table featured playing cards flying off the table as the wind blew, and only one was left: the Joker.

The scene solely focused on this card as it gradually zoomed closer to the screen. If fans have noticed, the Joker is the only card that didn’t appear in The Borderlands.

How will the Joker Appear in Alice in Borderlands Season 3?

According to Inverse, the Joker made a brief appearance in the manga as a mediator between life and death. In fact, he had a scene with Arisu before he woke up in the hospital.

However, the TV adaptation of Haro Aso’s brainchild didn’t feature that scene, so there are theories that Joker may be used as the villain of Alice in Borderland Season 3 instead—that’s if Netflix renews the show.

So far, there are no words yet if the streaming giant will be ordering another season for the series. If it does, it may take a Game of Thrones approach, creating its own story for a new season, knowing its source material already ended with the second season.
