Ahsoka: Another Key Rebels Character Reportedly Playing Bigger Role

With The Mandalorian Season 3 coming to an end soon, the next Disney+ live-action show due in the Star Wars franchise is Ahsoka. Starring Rosario Dawson in the titular role, the inclusion of more fan-favorite Star Wars Rebels characters are highly expected to come, too. Apart from Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, and Chopper, Sabine Wren is also highly anticipated to join the series, but with a twist.

In Star Wars Rebels, Ezra gave his green lightsaber to Sabine in the series finale, which goes accordingly with a new rumor from Making Star Wars, indicating that Sabine Wren’s role will be a more vital part in Ahsoka. Portrayed by Natasha Liu, Sabine is rumored to wield Ezra’s lightsaber in combat again. In fact, Making Star Wars claims that Ahsoka will also feature Sabine using the saber alongside Ezra.

Previously, the same news outlet stated that Fenn Rau is reportedly making his first appearance in The Mandalorian Season 3. Played by actor Kevin McKidd in the live-action, this could signal an even higher chance of seeing him in Ahsoka, as well, given that Star Wars Rebels actors always seem to depict their live-action counterpart, too.

It is worth mentioning that Sabine had already previously trained with the Darksaber and had already used Ezra’s lightsaber on more than one occasion in the animated series. Who’s to say she won’t be able to do the same in live-action?

Unfortunately, fan-favorite Bo-Katan Kryze is not one of those characters reprising their role in Disney’s Ahsoka. Though this hasn’t been confirmed yet, in a recent interview, Katee Sackhoff (who plays the animated and live-action Bo-Katan) did say she has yet to be contacted on being included on the live-action series.

Nothing has been set to stone yet as of writing, but it would be a shame to not bring Bo-Katan alongside the rest of the crew, seeing as she’s an important character by being one of Ahsoka’s closest and most trusted friends.

Ahsoka is currently slated to debut on Disney+ later this year.
