Ahmed Best Breaks Silence on His Surprise Star Wars Return

In the recent episode of The Mandalorian season 3 titled "The Foundling," Ahmed Best, who played Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, made his triumphant return to the franchise. This time around, he is playing a Jedi named Kelleran Beq, a character that he first portrayed in the Jedi Temple Challenge game show.

The actor's appearance was celebrated by fans and some deemed it as a redemption considering his history with the franchise and fandom back when he portrayed Jar Jar Binks. His character was also significant as they revealed that Kelleran is the one who rescued Grogu during Execute Order 66.

After the episode became available on Disney+, Best took to Instagram to address the fans regarding his surprise return to the franchise and thanked them for the gratitude that he received regarding his guest role in the latest episode of The Mandalorian.

"Gratitude! Good to be back. There is so much to say and share. It’s going to take a couple of days. But, for now, I’ll just say thank you to all that have held me up and made me better," he wrote in his caption.

You can tell from Best's caption that he was really delighted with the responses that he received from his comeback in the franchise and the sequence that he did in the recent episode. This is in huge contrast with the feedback that he got when he portrayed Jar Jar Binks in the past.

It is unknown yet whether Best will return in a future episode to continue Grogu's flashback since there are still some gaps that they have to fill in his backstory and they haven't shown Belleran's fate yet in the canon.

Now, it would be interesting to see if more surprises are in store for the rest of the season and whether a familiar face from the franchise's past will show up for a special appearance. Either way, even if it's only Best, that alone is an exciting treat enough for fans.
