While Yellowstone won the hearts of many people, 1932, a new Yellowstone spinoff and sequel to 1883, is currently in development.

In a new period, 1932 will continue to center on the Dutton family. Additionally, some significant historical events from the time period may be featured.

1932 to Explore the Lives of a New Generation of Duttons

Taylor Sheridan is working on a number of new projects, including 1932, the next Yellowstone spinoff to air on Paramount+. So, what is 1932 all about? The new show “will follow a new generation of Duttons during the time of western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression,” according to Town & Country.

“With the brilliant mind and gifted storytelling of Taylor Sheridan, we have created an entirely new world to explore with 1883 while expanding Yellowstone, and with 1932 we will open up a new chapter in this rapidly growing universe,” ViacomCBS Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios president and CEO Chris McCarthy said.

Sheridan is also working on another show, 6666, in addition to 1932. Along with Yellowstone, 6666 will more likely include modern storylines.

The Election of Franklin D. Roosevelt Could Happen in 1932

Given Paramount+’s announcement regarding 1932, the Yellowstone spinoff will center on the Great Depression era in the U.S. According to Politico, the Dow Jones Industrial Average reached an all-time low in 1932 during the Great Depression. From 1929 to 1930, the Dow fell by 90%.

By 1933, when the Great Depression reached its apex, 15 million Americans were out of work, and half of the country's banks had failed. 1932 will most likely focus on the Duttons' lives amid the worst economic time of the Depression.

The 1932 lows had an impact on the economy and consumer spending, as well as on the political environment in the U.S. The economic downturn, Politico notes, helped Franklin D. Roosevelt defeat Herbert Hoover in the presidential race. This was the first time since 1916 that Americans chose a Democrat as president.

Yellowstone Spinoff 1883 to Get More Episodes

Is there an 1883 Season 2 in the works?

1883 will get more episodes, according to Variety, although it's unclear if this means the program will get a second season. It's probable that the new episodes will be a continuation of the first season, and Sheridan will then leave the plot where it is to work on other Yellowstone projects

In the meantime, new episodes of 1883 debut weekly on Paramount+. The streamer has also officially renewed Yellowstone for Season 5.
