Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton had a friendly relationship while still making videos on YouTube together. However, when they scored a reality show on TLC, their fans noticed that their relationship had changed — it became more contentious.
Initially, bought wanted to lose weight. They were supportive of each other. However, when 1000-Lb Sisters Season 1 wrapped up, only Amy hit the goal and Tammy continued to struggle with her weight loss journey.
Whenever Amy confronts Tammy to help her with her weight loss goal, the latter would lash out and bully her. Amy hasn't lived Tammy despite the latter's treatment of her.
In fact, in a previous interview with the Sun, she said Tammy lost her house because she couldn't afford to pay the rent after she personally paid the pricey rehab fee. So, Tammy will be temporarily staying at her home when she returns from the rehab facility.
Some fans speculated that Amy keeps Tammy because she is addicted to their relationship. She allegedly wanted to be needed.

Meanwhile, some felt that there was a trauma bond between the two sisters. Tammy and Amy grew up without a mother figure. So, the Slaton home created unhealthy relationships.

1000-Lb Sisters Amy Slaton Praised For Creating Boundary
However, many fans also noticed that Amy Slaton has already learned to create a boundary with her sister Tammy Slaton. In one episode of 1000-Lb Sisters Season 3, Amy shared her thoughts about Tammy's partying habits.
She explained that she understood why Tammy did it because she didn't have the chance to do so in her 20s. However, she decided not to confront Tammy about it because "it's Tammy's choice to make good choices, not mine."
She added, "Besides, I know it's going to end up in a bad argument."
Following the airing of the episode, several netizens showered Amy with praises because she finally decided to put a boundary between her and Tammy because they felt that Tammy had been abusing her and treating her badly.
