The Force Awakens features some of the most life-like dialogue in the entire Star Wars saga. After watching the movie multiple times, I can recall more cheers, laughs, and applause than any other blockbuster movie in recent memory.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, or don’t want to be spoiled; be warned, this article contains SPOILERS. With that in mind, proceed to view our 10 funniest moments from The Force Awakens.

  1. Poe Asks Kylo Ren, “Are you talking first, or am I? Who’s supposed to talk first?”

Instead of the clichéd dramatic staring contest between characters, Poe breaks the melodrama in a very human way after he is captured by Kylo Ren and sets the tone for the rest of the movie, “Are you talking first, or am I? Who’s supposed to talk first?”. Theater laughter ensues.

  2. Finn Says, “Ok, stay calm... stay calm...” to Himself

While trying to escape with Poe in the First Order ship hanger, Finn takes one of the biggest risks of his Stormtrooper life. While escorting Poe, the dialogue exchange goes:

Finn: Ok, stay calm... stay calm...

    Poe: I am Calm.

Finn: I was talking to myself.

This was a completely unexpected, yet perfectly funny scene in what would normally be an un-extraordinary moment.

  3. Almost Every BB-8 Scene

BB-8 stole the show numerous times throughout the film. One of our favorite moments was when he rocked back and forth and did the best job he could of giving puppy dog eyes to Rey so that he could follow her around on Jakku.

Other great scenes include; BB-8 electrocuting Finn twice for “stealing” Poe's jacket, and giving Finn a thumbs up with his pop-out lighter.

  4. Chewbacca Agrees with a Nurse On His Bravery

All the theaters that we attended burst into laughter when Chewie is getting checked out by the Rebellion nurse. The nurse talks to Chewie, almost like he is a big kid with an injury, and says something like, “you must have been so brave”, and Chewie pauses nonchalantly and nods his head in agreement.

The scene was a perfect display of Peter Mayhew’s talent for using body language to convey comedy in a scene.

  5. Rey Tells a Stormtrooper To Drop His Gun

As Rey begins to understand she has some Force powers, she tries to get a Stormtrooper to set her free from the room and chair she is captured in. After failing to convince the Stormtrooper to let her free twice, the third time is the charm, and the Stormtrooper sets her free. Once the stormtrooper leaves, she tries her luck and asks the Stormtrooper to “drop your gun” and he obediently does. The dialogue goes as follows:

Rey: You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open.

    Stormtrooper: What did you say?

Rey: You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open.

Stormtrooper: I will tighten these restraints, scavenger scum!

Rey: You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open.

Stormtrooper: I will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open. [he does so]

Rey: You will drop your gun.

Stormtrooper: And I'll drop my gun.

As a side note, the Stormtrooper in the scene is portrayed by Daniel Craig, AKA James Bond.

  6. Han Uses Chewie’s Bowcaster and Likes It

We might have assumed Han Solo has used Chewie’s bowcaster within the last 30 years, but apparently not. Han borrows the weapon from Chewie during a fight and lights up a Stormtrooper who then goes flying into the distance. Han exclaims something along the lines of “I like this, I like this!”, and the theater roars with grins and laughter.

  7. Stormtroopers Change Direction After Hearing Kylo Ren Having a Tantrum

It’s no secret that Kylo Ren has a tendency to take out his negative emotions on the nearest object available with his lightsaber. In the scene, two Stormtroopers are walking on patrol and start hearing Kylo go into one of his legendary tantrums. They pause and then immediately go back the way they came to avoid Kylo. Smart move.

  8. C-3PO Gets in the Way of Han and Leia

After a tedious fight between the First Order and the Rebellion, Leia’s ship lands on the planets surface, accompanied by C-3PO. Han sees Leia for the first time in numerous years and you can see the deep emotion between the two characters. Then C-3PO pops out of nowhere and introduces himself to Han. His annoyance is timed perfectly, or terribly, depending on how you look at it. It's C-3PO’s big scene in the movie.

C-3PO: [comes between Han and Leia] General Solo, it is such an honor to see you again. [Leia motions to C3PO to get out of the way]

    Some things never change.

  9. Han Tells Finn, “Women always figure out the truth. Always.”

Finn pretended to be a member of the Rebellion after Rey kicked his butt on Jakku for having Poe’s jacket. Finn kept the ruse going for quite a while. Han, who has likely been caught telling Leia stories, tells Finn, “Women always figure out the truth. Always.”

  10. Han Tells Finn, "That's not how the Force works!"

Han and Finn arrive on the First Order’s planetary weapon. Han asks Finn how they will disable the shields. The dialogue goes something like this:

Finn: We'll figure it out, we'll use the Force!

Han Solo: That's not how the Force works! That's not how any of this works!

It is a perfect scene that shows Finn's knowledge of the Force is pretty elementary, which is even funnier combined with that fact that Han always thought the Force was a bunch of mumbo jumbo to start with.
